I continually receive failure messages to load the firmware:

The firmware in question is not distributable, you would have to extract
it from the NVidia blob.  Unless you intend to do video decoding with
your card, you can safely ignore these errors.

This is a kernel problem, BTW.  The package you reported it against is
not even used.
