Dear Maintainer,

I think that a nice improvement would be to use short options for those GNU
tools that have different implementations. Specifically in this case I'm
referring to cmp, which currently uses "--quiet". In this way this scripts will
work with implementations like busybox.

I have submitted a MR which can be found in:

https://salsa.debian.org/md/kmod/-/merge_requests/4

Thanks in advance,

Walter

Can you explain exactly who should care about using busybox for
postinst?

Hi Marco,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Debian is an Universal operating system, from which some other
distributions derive, which have different objectives, for instance
Apertis [1].

In the context of embedded devices the use of busybox is quite common,
since it provides the basic support for several GNU tools, with lower
footprint and much friendlier license.

Under this context, and since it the change I mention should not cause
any issue in Debian, is that I think it could be beneficial for also
other users/downstream distributions.

Thanks in advance!

Walter
