I've encountered bug 927219 several times in completely independent
hardware. It's some kind of configuration issue buried somewhere I can't
find. If you reinstall/uninstall GPU drivers enough times it seems possible
to reproduce, but horribly tedious. Once this issue occurs, I have never
been able to regain working X11 without reinstalling Debian.
