Doing `sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade` on an outdated Debian
sid/unstable system, I wondered about the message below:

     Unpacking mdadm (4.2-1) over (4.1-11) ...
     dpkg: warning: unable to delete old directory '/etc/mdadm':
Directory not empty

Isn’t it expected to have `/etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf` in there?

     $ ls -l /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf
     -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 688 Feb 16  2021 /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf

We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of
mdadm, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive.
