Hi, Please include a more lines of output from before the usbmux home dir error. That's not really enough to tell what's going on, and chromium doesn't add a usbmux user. Maybe you meant to file this against usbmuxd? Thanks, Andres

Check your /var/log/apt/term.log, and you should see where chromium was installed. I bet you'll see something about usbmuxd in there next to it, like it got pulled in as a dependency or an earlier apt-get was interrupted and running it again (to install chromium) had it finishing up installation of previous packages or something.
Hi Andres, I just did an apt-get install chromium (from lxterminal) and noted errors during ordinary installation, which usually does not give these kinds of errors. I don't see an existing bug on usbmuxd for this warning/error, so I'm reassigning this over to there. See below for the error messages and warnings that usbmuxd is generating. As far as dependencies: chromium-common has a Recommends on upower, which pulls in libusbmux6 and usbmuxd. Without upower, chromium will still function, but users will get errors like "[337422:337538:0418/133208.804020:ERROR:object_proxy.cc(623)] Failed to call method: org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties.Get: object_path= /org/freedesktop/UPower: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.UPower was not provided by any .service files". It's also installed on my main PC and that doesn't have that dir either. Shouldn't this bug have a higher severity? It creates a (system) user and it wants to create a home dir for it, but fails to do so. I haven't noticed any adverse affects, so I won't bump the severity, but as I don't have any iDevice I may not be considered a 'normal' user of the package.
