Dear Maintainer,

currently the scroll bar for vertical scrolling is not (always) working like intended, the bar
to grab for scrolling with the mouse (often) does not change according
to the length of scrolling and/or does not (visible) move up/down while
scrolling, be it when jumping to another place in the file through
moving in the text, or be it while pulling on the grabbing part of the
scroll bar.

It is a bit hard to describe when exactly this happens:
- open small document (no need for scrolling), open large document →
works at first, might stop working when changing window size
- open large document through double click → does not work (mostly),
sometimes works first, than stops working after changing window size,
or the other way round, starts working after resizing the window

Would be happy if that could be fixed (using IceWM here, if that matters),

Thanks

This seems to be fixed in 4.0, which were advertised on the Scintilla
mailinglist earlier today.

From the changelist:
* On GTK+ fix drawing problems including incorrect scrollbar redrawing
and flickering of text. Bug #1876.

I have installed it on my unstable virtual machine, and the problems as
described in this bug report I had earlier have gone away.

I'll take that back - I have tested in another virtual machine, also
Debian unstable (upgraded and up to date), and _not_ upgraded to SciTE
4.0 (still on Debian packaged 3.7.2) - there too the problem is gone, so
the solution must be elsewhere.

Yes, I also use scite regularly and I have never experimented this issue.

If also Alek can confirm the the issue is gone then probably we can just
close this issue.

The problem is still there - but I am now under the impression that it
is a libgtk3 problem, and not a SciTE problem.

The SciTE part of this bug has been fixed in scite 5.2.3-1 (or
worked-around, to be honest) - So I clone it and reassign one of the
clones to scite and close it there. I believe there's other programs
that are affected (like Geany, as mentioned in the upstream bug), so I
keep this clone open here.
