When suspending my laptop by closing the lid, systemd writes to all
terminals (presumably with wall):

  The system is going down for suspend NOW!

This behaviour is relatively new and very much unwanted (as well as
undocumented in the changelog, as far as I can tell).  I have over 20
terminals open with tmux and must clear each and every one of them,
possibly losing important information in the process.

The only reason using wall in this way is acceptable when restarting or
shutting down the computer is because the terminal will be gone in 60
seconds anyway and there's a risk of data loss.  When suspending or
hibernating, that's not the case and the user presumably performed that
operation because they wanted things to be as they left them, including
the contents of their terminals.

This change should be reverted.  If some people find it desirable, it
should be made opt-in so as not to break things for existing users.

As a reference, a thread on the fedora-devel mailing list[0] indicates
that this is in logind.  I confirmed that the code is there in the
latest HEAD, but did not attempt to bisect or otherwise identify the
cause.
