Description : The CernVM File System

The CernVM File System provides a scalable, reliable and low-maintenance software distribution service. It was developed to assist High Energy Physics (HEP) collaborations to deploy software on the worldwide-distributed computing infrastructure used to run data processing applications.

Although cvmfs is already packaged by cern, it will be more convenient
to deploy related software if distributed by Debian.

Hi,

that would be very useful to have indeed! I looked at this very briefly and
figured it is probably not trivial to package, so good luck.
Let me know if you need a sponsor or any other help for this.

Cheers,
Stephan

Hi Stephan,

Thank you so much for offering help. I have been working with Yachen in
the past 2 months. Now the package is in shape with only few minor
update before uploading to the NEW queue.

It would be great if you could have a review of the draft package.

Cheers,
Benda

Hi Benda,

sorry for the late reply, I just didn't have time to look into it.

I am not able to build it from Salsa since I can't find the proper
source tarball - [1] does not seem to work. Could you write a
`debian/watch file` (see [2] for details) for easy downloading of the
source tarball?

Otherwise I think you should remove the unused externals in the
`externals` folder - you can do this via `debian/copyright` (see e.g.
[3], multiple lines allowd)

Cheers,
Stephan

Hi,

The cvmfs repo on salsa has not beed active for ~2 years.

As a user of cvmfs (and DD), I could sponsor (and maintain as well) this package.
Let's pick it up and try to get cvmfs into forky, shall we?

BTW, I searched the debian-hpc list and also found some relevant discussion [1].
