Dear Maintainer,

I don't use Dolphin often, so I cannot say since when this issue exists. However, I only noticed it on 5th of November.

I tried to rename a bunch of files using Dolphin. So I selected one file, pressed F2 and entered a new text. Now, if I made a typo, I was unable to correct this. If I hit the backspace or delete key, Dolphin interpreted the key as command, not as text alteration. Thus, upon backspace the parent folder was opened. Upon delete the file was removed. You can imagine that this was very annoying.

A workaround was to select some text and enter the correction. That would replace the selection.

Best Regards

Hi

I had the same symptoms and found a cause that I want to share with you.

For me, the cause was keyboard layouts. When I had German T3 or German
E1 enabled or even only in the list of active layouts in Plasma, I
observed the described behaviour.

I had this configured, because it is given as a workaround for neoqwertz
layout on https://www.neo-layout.org/Probleme/FAQ/#linux-unix-bsd

The third workaround option (setting modifier_mapping) had the same effect.

Cure: have only one keyboard layout "German" configured in KDE Plasma.
