   * What led up to the situation?

Start aisleriot via the sol comand.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
Start the game, then an error message schema exception occured (in German).
After that I can choose to report it. After that a new game starts that works fine.
Sometimes I also experienced that error when dragging the first card.

Update on this:
The issue was the way I started the application.
I run sol & in xterm and then Hit Ctrl+D.
That makes STDOUT unavailable and that seems to cause that schema
exception.
