I'm not sure whether this is a bug in Emacs or a bug in the grep man
page, but since man(1) and 'M-x man' both handle the page fine, I
thought I'd start here.

Reproducible with 'emacs -Q' or 'emacs -q'. Installed version of grep
is 3.8-5.

Entering 'M-x woman RET grep RET' results in an error:

Search failed: "\\(\\\\{\\|el[ ]*\\\\}\\)\\|\\(
[.']\\)?[ ]*\\\\}[ ]*"

Looking in *Messages*, this is preceded by "woman0-if".
