In Gnome shell settings, setting Style to Dark, makes it work pretty well
in almost all apps.


But it does not affect gedit.

Yes, gedit does not support the Dark style preference.

Workaround
----------------
1. Open the GNOME Tweaks app
2. Click Appearance in the left sidebar
3. Set the Legacy Applications theme to Adwaita-dark
