Hello, since the upgrade vom Debian 11 to 12 there is the problem of a hanging KDE when using Firefox. For example opening this URL https://slidealama.eu is loading the webpage and then the complete KDE is freezing including the mouse pointer. gdb cannot be used, because you don't get any console window again. But it is possible to login remote from another PC, so the kernel is still alive. Requesting a kill of a process or a shutdown does not work - a reset of the PC is needed. Any ideas how to find out what is happening? Best regards karsten
Today the next system upgrade has been done. Firefox is now version 102.13.0esr-1~deb12u1 I tested the above URL and it did not crash. I will report any new crash that will happen ...
There where two addtional freezes caused by firefox on other webpages like windy.com. It seems that webpages with intense graphics can cause the system freeze. But there are two other events where the system freezes obvious in other applications. In many cases the process plasmashell is going into 100% cpu usage, so I will try to move this bug to KDE. Attached is an screenshot of the system in freezing KDE state, made by logging in from another PC via ssh. As already described the KDE is absolutely dead and only reset of the PC helps.

Hello maintainers, after about 3 month it was necessary to go back to Debian 11 from Debian 12. You get really neurotic when you work on your PC and every click could be the last one. ;-) It's a long time ago that such an rollback is needed. There is no hint and there seems to be no possibility to isolate and solve this bug. Additionaly there are other essential bugs that arises with Debian 12 like problems with printing. Now back to Debian 11 the PC never freezes again, nearly everything is running perfect, including graphics. Attached is the screenshot of the pass of an RAM test - to show that this bug is not related to an hardware problem. So maybe Debian 11 will be the last release for this PC ... Cheers karsten
