Dear Maintainer, thanks for packaging portmidi. unfortunately, it seems that Debian is lagging behind seriously. PortMidi-217 (as found in Debian) was released in 2010. However, the latest and greatest PortMidi release is v2.0.4 and was released in late 2022. Hooray for using another versioning scheme! (but then: Debian already uses an epoch, so we are probably safe :-)) The sourceforge page ships v2.0.2 (released in early 2022), but it seems that the project has now moved to GitHub https://github.com/PortMidi/portmidi Please update the package.
Hi,
I have injected the latest upstream version into Salsa[1]. Due to the
SONAME bump the package needs a transition. I probably will upload the
package to experimental soon (it needs a transition through new due to
the change of the binary package name).
I will do so as Debian team upload since the package was maintained in
collab-maint on Alioth. It would be helpful if Paul would give some
statement about his plans with this package.
Kind regards
Andreas.
PS: This package was highlighted in the Bug of the Day[2] initiative, which
aims to introduce newcomers to manageable tasks and guide them through
the workflow to solve them. The focus of this initiative is on migrating
packages to Salsa, as it's a great way to familiarize newcomers with a
consistent Git-based workflow.

Hi,
since a new version of portmidi was requested for some time I took the
freedom to update the repository that was ported by Jelmer from Alioth
collab-maint to Salsa Debian/ team[1]. I have uploaded the current
state to delayed=10 queue targeting exprimental since we probably need
some transition once Trixie is released.
Kind regards
Andreas.
