Dear Maintainer,

Sorry for the psycho subject. Please see video:
I paste in a file in pieces, and only get a few dozen bytes of echo
on each paste. Then, when I'm done pasting, I keep getting chunks of the
file when mashing the keyboard.

This is
  qemu-system-ppc64 -smp 6 -m 4g -nographic -vga none \
     -nic user,model=virtio,hostfwd=tcp::2222-:22 \
     -drive file=/dev/zvol/filling/store/nabijaczleweli/vm-ppc64el,if=none,id=drive-virtio-disk0,format=raw,cache=none \
     -device virtio-blk,drive=drive-virtio-disk0,id=virtio-disk0
amd64 bookworm host, console reports as hvc0 in guest
(buster 10.9, kernel 4.19.0-16-powerpc64le).

Similarly, I think, during boot, the console reads

Quiescing Open Firmware ...
Booting Linux via __start() @ 0x0000000002000000 ...
Linux ppc64le
#1 SMP Debian 4.

and hangs with cursor after "4.".
boot then continues so it ends up being

Booting Linux via __start() @ 0x0000000002000000 ...
Linux ppc64le
#1 SMP Debian 4.[ 13.683437] vio vio: uevent: failed to send synthetic uevent

I dunno what to od with this bug report. Please submit this report to the
upstream bug tracking system, https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues

Also please try at least qemu 8.0, or better yet - 8.1-rc2 from experimental.
The chance it works better is not high, but not zero either.

Thanks,

Yeah, also happens on experimental.
Tell me what to try and where to post it next if you think it's not a
Debian-specific bug :)
Forwarded.

Thank you!

I think this has always been this way (not specific to ppc, - any serial port works
like this. And I even think there's a debian bug about this already, quite old one.
