Hi, During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on amd64. Relevant part (hopefully): The full build log is available from: http://qa-logs.debian.net/2023/07/24/python-ase_3.22.1-3_unstable.log All bugs filed during this archive rebuild are listed at: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=ftbfs-20230724;users=lucas@debian.org or: https://udd.debian.org/bugs/?release=na&merged=ign&fnewerval=7&flastmodval=7&fusertag=only&fusertagtag=ftbfs-20230724&fusertaguser=lucas@debian.org&allbugs=1&cseverity=1&ctags=1&caffected=1#results A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute! If you reassign this bug to another package, please mark it as 'affects'-ing this package. See https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control#affects If you fail to reproduce this, please provide a build log and diff it with mine so that we can identify if something relevant changed in the meantime.
Hi Lucas I'm unable to reproduce this failure locally, also python-ase builds successfully on reproducible builds [1]. Regards Graham [1] https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rb-pkg/python-ase.html
Hi Graham, I just checked again, and can still reproduce this. Lucas
python-ase 3.24.0-1 is still building successfully on buildd and the regular reproducibility checks at https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rb-pkg/unstable/amd64/python-ase.html Lucas, is your test system still reporting failure with ase 3.24.0?
tags 1042048 - unreproducible forky sid trixie tags 1042048 + bookworm thanks Hi. The original build log from Lucas is now removed. Lucas: I wonder if it would be possible for you to keep those build logs for more time, or maybe keep them until the issue is solved. I am able to reproduce this build failure 100% of the time on AWS machines which incidentally have a single CPU, but I'm unable to determine if there is a relation at all between failure and number of available CPUs (correlation != causation). If that was indeed the root cause, it would be possible to "import os" and then skipif(os.cpu_count()==1). If we are unable to determine the root cause, I would consider the test as flaky and would disable it (in bookworm) without any "if". As always, I will be more than happy to provide a VM where this happens all the time to anybody willing to debug it. Thanks.
Hello, Bug #1042048 in python-ase reported by you has been fixed in the Git repository and is awaiting an upload. You can see the commit message below and you can check the diff of the fix at: https://salsa.debian.org/debichem-team/python-ase/-/commit/0e482b9f5aa0a047932c3367f4b676f1b6dec9cc (this message was generated automatically) -- Greetings https://bugs.debian.org/1042048
Hello. I can reproduce the failure in bookworm, but not in trixie. Therefore, I hereby declare the bug as fixed in trixie. For bookworm, I've just made an upload for proposed-updates, hopefully in time for the last point release. The change is merely switching an xfail into a skip, so there is nothing to lose: https://salsa.debian.org/debichem-team/python-ase/-/commit/0e482b9f5aa0a047932c3367f4b676f1b6dec9cc Thanks.
We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of python-ase, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you have further comments please address them to 1042048@bugs.debian.org, and the maintainer will reopen the bug report if appropriate.
