#1043232 gimp-plugin-registry: Incompatible with gimp 3

gimp-plugin-registry is not compatible with gimp 2.99 which is
currently in Debian Experimental. When the new version of gimp is
uploaded to Unstable, this bug will be upgraded to Serious.

Do you intend to keep this package around after gimp 3 is released? Or
will it be removed from Debian?

Thank you,
Jeremy Bícha

Hi Jeremy,

I think I'll keep this package to continue work with gimp3.
I'll test it very soon.
I still use one of the plugins very often.

Paul

Hello

Are there news on this package? It has now been autoremoved from
testing, are there still plans to bring it back? or is the porting to
gimp 3 too problematic?

thanks

Hi all,

It seems to me that porting to gimp 3 is too large.

Actually I only  use one plugin called "gimp-mask" often.

I ported it, but the changes are large.

And there are a lot of plugins in this package.  All of them are broken.

I think we might need to drop this package.

For any plugins that people are interested in, we should package it
separately.

I'll publish a gimp-mask for gimp 3 soon.
But maybe not for Trixie. Too late for the release.

Yours,
Paul

Hi Paul,

I looked at the registry too, and agree, it is a very large project to port
to gimp3, and updates for gimp3 won't work in gimp2 due to different API
structures between them.

I started picking-away at a couple of plugins, plus there are some other
projects which are, or in the process of conversion to gimp3.

What is your best recommendation, list them here?
or create Debian bugzilla reports (towards gimp registry, or separate)?

Thanks,
Joe
