About the archive rebuild: The build was made using virtual machines
from AWS, with enough memory, enough disk, and either one or two

Control: retitle -1 barrier: FTBFS: failing test on hosts with one or two CPUs
failure.

I tried however to build in a VM with only one CPU core available, ie:
passing the "-smp 1" argument to qemu. The build fails. Interestingly,
this is the case also with -smp 2. With -smp 3 the build seems fine.

and I believe reproducible-builds has more than 2 CPUs, so I'm not sure the new
subject is accurate.

The flaky tests are only the ones executed under xvfb-run. Because the
freeze is approaching, I would recommend disabling them (and only them),
as in the attached patch.

Hi,

I investigated #1057544 against the current unstable source package
barrier 2.4.0+dfsg-4 in a clean amd64 schroot.

The existing patch in this bug only disables:

- xvfb-run -a builddir/bin/integtests

However, current unstable does not reach that failure first.

A clean amd64 build currently fails earlier on #1112753 (FTBFS with
CMake 4), specifically with:

- cmake/Version.cmake:1
- Compatibility with CMake < 3.5 has been removed from CMake.

For a probe run, I applied temporary source-side adjustments only to see
whether the old `xvfb-run` failure still reproduced once the package built far
enough to run tests:

- raised `cmake_minimum_required` from `3.4` to `3.5` in:
  - `CMakeLists.txt`
  - `cmake/Version.cmake`
  - `src/gui/CMakeLists.txt`
- added:
  - `target_compile_features(guiunittests PRIVATE cxx_std_17)`

The C++17 change was needed because current unstable `gtest` rejects older
language modes for `guiunittests`.

With those temporary changes in place, the amd64 test sequence from
debian/rules completed successfully:

- builddir/bin/guiunittests (58 tests passed)
- xvfb-run -a builddir/bin/integtests (20 tests passed)
- builddir/bin/unittests (135 tests passed)

So for current unstable, the patch in `#1057544` no longer looks like the
right fix. The package is blocked first by newer FTBFS issues, and once those
are patched around, the old `xvfb-run` failure does not reproduce.

I have not checked whether the original failure is still relevant for older
stable branches tagged on this bug.
