There's already an RFP for gitea (#935834), which forgejo is based on.

Unfortunately, their work isn't compliant with Debian Policy at all.

I'll look into the missing dependencies needed for packaging this.

Hi Wim,

I'm aware that Gitea and Forgejo have their own pros and cons. I meant they both
share a lot of the same dependencies, and those dependencies aren't available in
Debian (yet).

quick status update:

  * the forgejo cli client and its dependencies is needed for all the
    automated testing of forgejo. packages have been uploaded in
    October, some have been accepted and some are still in NEW.

  * "waiting" on getting repo grouping implemented:
https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/issues/1024

  * while we're "waiting", I'm continuing on preparing the golang
    depends for forgejo and starting to batch upload them soon to NEW.

  * I would expect that they will take a long time to get out of NEW,
    I'll soon start providing a repository with all the packages in it
    so interested people can start using it.

There's a mix of packages you've done that are in the Go Team on Salsa
but don't have them listed as maintainer, or are on forgejo.debian.net.
Any specific intention/reason?

thank you for your kind offer. I'd be more than happy if you can help
getting the remaining dependencies in Debian and, getting those updated
that need updating.

specifically those of Go Team which you're fortunately part of, e.g.:

   * golang-github-go-redis-redis: 6.x in sid, needs 9.x

the actual maintenance of forgejo itself is rather trivial and adding
too many people doesn't make sense to me - I'm already working with 2
other DDs from $work on it.

for packages I maintain myself I prefer using forgejo over salsa.

seem to indicate that that issue is not being worked on anymore:
algernon has not been in touch for several months now.

Do you still plan to wait for it before you upload to debian ?

If not, what is still needed ? Is there any way to help ?
