I intend to orphan the xf86-input-wacom package since I no longer
use Wacom devices.

The package description is:
This package provides the X.Org driver for Wacom tablet devices.

Thanks,
Boyuan Yang

Hi, I see we are at the current version. I'll keep an eye on the
releases from upstream and when we're there I can try to take over
maintainership. Will need a sponsor though.

Pieter

Hi Boyuan,

I looked into the package and I have some questions.

1) I see upstream provides both autotools and meson based builds. Do we
have a preference? Is there a documented discussion or decision on what
we prefer?

2) Lintian shows missing man pages for two executables. I think I would
open an issue upstream for this, asking upstream to provide the manpages
and put that issue in debian/README.Debian. I would rather not provide
the man pages myself. What do we usually do?

3) debian/patches/1000-appstream-metainfo.patch is not forwarded
upstream. Do you mind if I do?

Thanks for your response!

Pieter

Hi,

在 2026/1/17 4:40, Pieter Lenaerts 写道:

It used to use autotools, and I did not alter it (if it ain't broken, don't fix it-style aproach).
Switching to meson is of course a choice, as long as work is done to not to
lose any functionality.

We either keep the status quo, or ask upstream to provide the man page
if they are willing to, or write our own man page when they are not willing to.

I did not author this patch, so I am not in the position to make comments.

Thanks,
Boyuan

Hi Petter,

You authored debian/patches/1000-appstream-metainfo.patch in
xf86-input-wacom. Is it okay for you to forward it upstream? Do you
prefer to forward it or shall I do it?

Best regards,

Pieter

[Pieter Lenaerts]

I am perfectly fine with anyone forwarding my patches to upstream.
