Hi Maintainer

This package has dependencies, build-dependencies and/or autopkgtest
dependencies on python3-distutils.  The python3-distutils binary
package will soon be dropped from python3-stdlib-extensions.

In fact, there is no module for Python 3.12 in python3-distutils, so
these dependencies may already be unnecessary.

Thanks for opening this bug report. I've created a patch that fixes this
issue. I'm planning on downgrading this bug to keep track of the
upstream issue.

I haven't uploaded the fix yet, since I also need to add a new patch to
migrate from setup.py to a pyproject.toml file. Still working on that.

Lowering the severity of this bug once again, as it's been fixed. This
bug is still open to track the upstream changes that need to happen to
remove the Debian patch.
