A number of binary packages accompany their primary content by tests,
examples, and/or other documentation that appreciably increase their
size, in some cases by more than an order of magnitude, and as such
would be very reasonable to split out.  Could Lintian please flag such
packages so as to encourage such splitting?  I know Perl and would be
happy to draft a patch if that would be helpful.

Hi Aaron,

I would really welcome such check in lintian. I am often bitten by such
situations when trying to minimize the size of my VMs/containers. I
think lintian hint encouraging maintainers to split off large auxiliary
content would be nice and would happily review your patch.
