Dear Maintainer,

The application fails to initialize a WebView.  To reproduce:

  1. Go to "Settings"
  2. Select "Telegram Premium"
  3. Select one of the Telegram Premium subscription options
  4. Navigate to the "Premium Bot" chat and select one of the payment options
  5. Continue to payment

This fails with "Error: Could not initialize WebView."

When running the application from the terminal, the following error is
displayed simultaneously:

  Gdk-Message: 22:25:03.857: Error 71 (Protocol error) dispatching to Wayland
  display.
  unable to lock lockfile /run/user/1000/wayland-0.lock, maybe another
  compositor is running

Hello!

I tried to reproduce in GNOME the steps you described and got "Error: WebView
has crashed" on the first load. However, no logs were printed about the crash.

Fortunately, if I try to open web page again, it loads successfully.

In version 5.7.2, Telegram Desktop prefers libwebkit2gtk-4.1.so.0 and never
uses libwebkitgtk-6.0.so.4 in Wayland. This logic has been changed slightly
since 4.14.9.
