Not sure whether this is an actual problem, but
/var/lib/dictionaries-common/hunspell/ contains
what I think are registration files for both
hunspell-en-us and myspell-de-de-1901 but
hunspell-en-gb is curiously missing one, in sid
as well.

That is not the only one. Dicts from libreoffice-dictionaries also do not provide
that file. I added some code to the dict-common machinery to search for installed
hunspell dicts and guess what that info file should provide, so it is only
useful if something special is needed, otherwise is not required.
