Dear maintainer, While I appreciate the message I got yesterday during my upgrade of apt-listchanges, I do ask you to drop that NEWS entry some time before the release of trixie. Your request to file bugs might be appropriate for the development cycle of trixie, it feels like it's noise for those upgrading from bookworm to trixie. Paul
I am of two minds about this. I acknowledge the point you are making, and it's valid. Having said that, (a) I am wary of the hubris of thinking that this is going to be a completely seamless and invisible change that people don't need to be notified about, and (b) anybody upgrading to trixie is going to see a whole bunch of NEWS entries, and judging from my personal experience, the majority of them are going to be irrelevant to each user seeing them, so I'm not sure there is a significant amount of harm in one more. jik
Hi, Let me just say that somebody on IRC (a DD) made a remark about the NEWS item, which triggered me to say that I thought about filing this bug and they said they thought the same. So it was two people that thought this NEWS a bit too much. Take it or leave it. Paul
Make that 3 people. The "news" is not really something end users of stable need, and could apply to many packages.
