Rio is a hardware-accelerated GPU terminal emulator focusing to run

It would be nice to have it in Debian!

Hi,

I'd like to register interest in this RFP and also propose a possible path
around the main blocker.

From Blair Noctis's earlier note, the packaging is stuck on wgpu and
librashader not being in Debian. Rather than waiting for that whole Rust
graphics stack to land, one alternative is to add a native Vulkan backend
to Rio upstream. Since Rio is Rust and Vulkan has solid Debian-packaged
bindings (ash, vulkano), a native backend would let rioterm be built
without depending on wgpu at all — which removes the larger of the two
blockers entirely.

Hi there, v0.4 now makes wgpu and librashader optional. Please consider Rio
in the packaging.
