Could you please enable support for

	Motorcomm YT6801 GBit NIC

in the kernel configuration for amd64? Hardware is a Tuxedo
InfinityBook Pro Intel Gen9.

By now I could just verify the Bookworm backports kernel,
but reading the changelog for Sid's 6.11.6 kernel the
Motorcomm support is still missing.

Hello Harry,

I created a MR for that at
https://salsa.debian.org/kernel-team/linux/-/merge_requests/1270. As I
wrote there I'm a bit unsure this is the right driver as it doesn't
mention "YT6801".

Can you (or maybe Werner) confirm this to be the right thing? Or does
this additionally need a modification to the motorcomm driver to
support the laptop's phy?

Hi Uwe,

In the meantime I had found Tuxedo's driver package as well, not to
mention the project on github https://github.com/dante1613/Motorcomm-YT6801.
I just wonder how a renowned maker of Linux laptops comes to the
idea to add such exotic hardware to their main laptop line?

being support via DKMS is sufficient and not worth the price increase resulting
from requesting a hardware modification. Especially since the driver is already
on it's way to upstream.

Also the yt6801 is somewhat new, but probably not too exotic in the near future.
Because of this, I too hope that the driver for it is soon upstream ready.
