     mannual selection

   i can install both at the same time.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
   package conflict at installer level

Why shouldn't they be co-installable? There are no file conflicts
between the packages. Usually you install only one of them. But if you
have both available, you can switch between them with
update-glx --config nvidia .
This makes trying out the open driver much easier ...
