The mirror ftp.acc.umu.se should be updated to mirror.accum.se in both the
mirror list and in DNS CNAMEs for ftp.se.debian.org etc.

This is due to uncertainty on how the university (umu.se) will treat the
computer club (acc) in the long run. We expect ftp.acc.umu.se to still
work for several (hopefully many) years to come, but we've already had to
move emails and normal webserver out to our new accum.se domain.

I'm trying to work out if there's a sensible way of renaming the mirror
in the mirror list that doesn't result in you disappearing off the
published list for 10-14 days (as new mirrors start with a low
"score"). I'm tempted to add a new entry for the new name, let that
make its way on to the published list and then remove the older entry.

The mirror listing currently includes:

Alias: churchill.acc.umu.se

but I'm not sure if churchill is still relevant here.

We'll presumably also want to change the mirror push to ftp.acc.umu.se
/ poincare.acc.umu.se to use the new name, which will also imply
changing the rsync username that you use to pull updates. That needs a
bit of investigation / checking in order to avoid breaking your updates
if we can't do a synchronised cut-over.

Thanks!

Makes sense to me to double list it for a while.

No, this was the old push trigger / updating host, taken over by poincare:

The poincare.acc.umu.se is currently having their primary name in the
.acc.umu.se domain, and since it is not "a web site" or otherwise
public-facing there is a lot less pressure to do anything about the domain
name. I suggest keeping it as poincare.acc.umu.se for now, and we'll maybe
get back to it in a few years. It is the host that does all the updates,
taking ssh triggers and running cron jobs.

Hm. One thought, meetings-archive.debian.net CNAME, is that DSA or some
other team I should involve?

It's attached to your LDAP account, apparently. :-)

adsb@draghi:~$ ldapsearch -LLL -b dc=debian,dc=org -x -H ldaps://db.debian.org "dnsZoneEntry=meetings-archive*" uid
dn: uid=maswan,ou=users,dc=debian,dc=org
uid: maswan

You can update it using the mail gateway, by sending a line of the form:

meetings-archive IN CNAME new.target.example.

in a signed mail to changes@db.d.o.

one once both are on the published list.

Is this still the relevant sponsor information?

Sponsor: Academic Computer Club, Umeå University http://www.accum.se/
Sponsor: South Pole AB http://www.southpole.se/

ACK.

Fair enough, happy to have fewer things to worry about. :-)

We prefer the "mirror.accum.se" name since we want to discourage use of
actual ftp, and accume.se with an extra e is not our domain.

You can drop South Pole now, it's been a lot of years since they last
sponsored this service.

Makes sense; updated.

I know. That was a typo in the e-mail, the actual list is correct.

Thanks, removed.
