Description : Native engine for the Diablo video game

DevilutionX is a libre engine allowing to play Diablo, the hack & slash
video game developped by Blizzard North and published by Blizzard
Entertainment in 1997.

It is already used by ./play.it [1] to generate native .deb packages
from the DRM-free (but non-redistributable) installers sold by GOG [2].
Having it available directly from the Debian repositories would improve
its integration, in addition to making Diablo a candidate for
game-data-packager [3] support. While only the GOG installer is
supported for now, adding support for the CD-ROM versions of the game
could be done too.

The license [4] forbids commercial use, so this package would go into the
non-free section:
If you have good reasons to think this license makes the software unfit
for inclusion into the non-free section of Debian repositories, please
chime in as soon as possible so I don’t end up wasting too much time
working on a package that could not be integrated in the end.

While this is for now only a RFP, I plan to turn it into an ITP as soon
as I can find some time and motivation to work on packaging this game
engine. It should most probably happen in the coming months.

I do not have a direct e-mail contact with upstream but already
communicated with them on numerous occasions in the context of my work
on ./play.it and they are usually very quick to answer. I am going to
share this RFP with them, so they know of my packaging intentions as
early as possible.

That looks all good this time.

I think debian/copyright could still have been condensed a bit more,
but this should not be a blocker. It can still be improved later.

I just sent devilutionx 1.5.4+ds-1 to the NEW queue,
hoping it’s going to clear it without any problem.

The mistake is on my part, there is nothing wrong with the pakaging you
prepared. I’m going to fix that right now.

I have bad news (rejected):

It really hurts :( If anyone would like to help with getting this package
accepted, please join the discussion here:

I spent a lot of time on this package and I'm a bit tired, so I'll be working on
other packages. But just in case, I updated the repository to the latest version
of DevilutionX: https://salsa.debian.org/games-team/devilutionx
