Dear Maintainer, linux-image-6.12.3-amd64 fails to boot. The following kernel messages are likely the relevant bits - appologies if I'm getting them wrong, I'm unfamiliar with kernel bug reporting:
I can confirm that this is happening, also on a Thinkpas X1 Gen7.
Dear Maintainer, This is a duplicate of #1089521 linux-image-6.12.3-amd64 fails to boot due to Oops: invalid opcode: 0000 error I am just reporting my specific instance with details about the hardware.
It looks like this is meant to be fixed by: https://lore.kernel.org/all/20241211114905.368044-1-stanislaw.gruszka@linux.intel.com/ Ben.
Thanks for looking into this, disabling the camera works as a stopgap measure by putting something like blacklist intel_ipu6 blacklist intel_ipu6_isys blacklist ipu_bridge into - for example - /etc/modprobe.d/ipu6.conf 6.11 has some other source of instability leading to daily lockups that I could not narrow down yet, now I can see if 6.12 is better. Best, Jan
measure Thanks for the replies and pointers to the fix. I'll stay on 6.11 until the next 6.12 image is made available. Antoine
Hi Antoine, There was some doubt after our last kernel team meetings that the referenced proposed upstream commit will fix defintively the issue and we have report back that 6.12.5-1 works. Can you confirm that? Regards, Salvatore
close 1089521 6.12.5-1 thanks According to Scott Ashcroft's reporting back.
Hi Salvatore, and Thanks for checking. I've been running 6.12.5-1 successfully for the past few days. Thanks! Antoine
