FS-UAE cannot be found in modern software centers such as GNOME Software or KDE Discover because its AppStream metadata are not generated for some reason:

I am not sure what the reason is because both the desktop and icon files look correct.

The reason is that the fs-uae-launcher package uses various icons
where the copyright is not clarified by upstream. This has caused
the fs-uae-launcher package to be rejected by the FTP team.

I have filed an upstream bug report for that [1].

package is available in Trixie/Sid, but has no AppStream metadata generated

I'm sorry, but I have not looked into AppStream support yet and I don't
use it myself. If you want the fs-uae package to support AppStream, I
suggest that you send me a patch.

There is no need to add the AppStream metadata. They are recommended, but
not required. They should be auto-generated from the desktop/icon files
present in the package, but it does not happen for fs-uae for some reason.
Possibly because there is "NoDisplay=true" in the desktop file. This is what
this ticket is about.




Or is the "NoDisplay=true" in fs-uae.desktop intentional and the fs-uae
package should be used in combination with fs-uae-launcher (that is not
currently available for the reasons you mentioned)?

If the "NoDisplay=true" in fs-uae.desktop is intentional and fs-uae-launcher is what should be used as a GUI, you can close this ticket.
