Since autopkgtest 5.43 hit the ci.d.n workers, the autopkgtest of
debian-edu-doc tmpfails after 8:30h (global timeout) on all
architectures while still building the binaries (it has build-needed).
As can be seen in the log below, there seem to be multiple moments where
for 4000 seconds, nothing is happening. Before the regression, the build
(and full autopkgtest) would take half an hour on amd64.

Thanks for connecting dots. But the fact that autopkgtest tmpfails in
this case is still a problem. It should fail the test instead. Good to
know this isn't a regression in autopkgtest (at least less obvious if it
is).

Sure; but possibly the cause would have been hard to catch in this case.

Already this 'make clean' command times out -- IMO due to a change in
make version 4.4.1-1 (Dec 2024), hitting debian-edu-doc's
Makefile.common, see:

The issue has been addressed a while back in debian-edu-doc and was
neither caused by autopkgtest nor by debian-edu-doc.

Or is there anything to be done on the Debian Edu side to finalize
closure for this?

The triggering bug in debian-edu-doc might have been fixed, but the
issue in autopkgtest is still present and needs to be fixed there.

But, asking a question: why are you asking (I have a suspicion but I'd

this has additionally been addressed in GNU make, too.

I am going over all debian-edu-* bugs in BTS and work on fixing them
currently.

That's due to the "Affects", you could have dropped it to avoid this
autopkgtest bug showing up there, as it no longer affects you. Doing so
