As I’ve mentioned upstream, these issues (which are heavily felt in daily use as I start and exit mc tons of times) are caused by the subshell communication code sometimes using a too-high file descriptor number and then the shell runs “pwd >&10”, which is not supported in POSIX shells (including mksh/lksh). I’ve just submitted a corresponding change upstream, but this needs to be fixed in trixie, too. Please find attached a debdiff for this (except debian/changelog), apply and get a freeze exception. (mc will need to be rebuilt for trixie already *anyway* due to #1108010 once e2fsprogs is fixed, so this’ll save a binNMU)
tags 1108061 + fixed-upstream thanks Hi, the equivalent patch (plus a new comment) got merged upstream. I would really like this in trixie; if it’d help, I’d do it as NMU and ask for approval. Please indicate if that’s okay or not. Thanks, //mirabilos
Dear maintainer, I've prepared an NMU for mc (versioned as 3:4.8.33-1.1) and uploaded it to DELAYED/5. Please feel free to tell me if I should delay it longer. Regards. (I’ve also filed a trixie-p-u request.) As announced earlier, //mirabilos
We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of mc, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you have further comments please address them to 1108061@bugs.debian.org, and the maintainer will reopen the bug report if appropriate.
