Dear Maintainer, I am watching a strange issue with the application launcher. As I do not know, what really hapens, please let me shortly describe: 1. When starting the launcher and I can hover the mouse over the categories, but when I go into the submenus to chose the application, the submenu disapears. Thus I can not start any application from the startmenu. This behaviour appears also on the alternatives. 2. When hover the mousepointer over any of the categories, I see the mouse cursor blinking black and white colour, so as if the mouse is doing something. The mouse is not touched during this. 3. Removing the external mouse does not work. 4. This is a laptop, so a touchpad is always connected. Work I did and things to know: - I reinstalled all kde-packages = no success - Checked all parms = nothing unusual found - Created a new user for testing purposes = same issue - Chcked hardware with a livefile system = on livefile it is ok On my desktop computer with debian/trixie and same package versions, it is working. Maybe it is a bad combination of hardware and software? The trouble is on my Dell Latitude 5400. Please feel free to ask for more information. Thank you for reading and your help! Best regards Hans

I *really* have to do it on purpose though, as soon as the mouse moves at even a moderate pace I can’t reproduce anymore. With the additional issues on the mouse cursor (and the fact that you cannot reproduce on your other machine) this starts looking more like a display driver bug. Can you see anything interesting in the system’s journal while the issue is happening or some time before ? Thanks, -- Aurélien

Hi Aurelien, no, I could see nothing unusual in any logs. Any you may right, it may be an X issue, because I also noticed, that applications are somtimes hanging for several seconds (abnout 10 - 15 secons or so). This may be another issue. We wil,l see it, when trixie is officially released and more people did an upgrade. I have another machine, where applications in X are also hanging, but that one got an NVidia card and driver. However, I am sure, this is not the cause of the issue. For testing purposes I am reverting my notebook back to bookworm as I made an image of the harddrive before upgrade, so I can revert and upgrade again. Thus to make sure, it is not happened during upgrade. I will tell about the results, as soon as I know more. Best regards Hans
So, did a complete restore to bookworm and then upgrade again. Some issue as before! So it is really a bug, However, also the freeze I mentioned before appear again, thus it possibily might also be an X related issue. Not sure about this.... I filed a bugreport of this issue directly to the KDE group (including a small video), and got feedback from them: They say, the kde developers will no more work on any 6.3.X versions, as this version is too old. They are working now at 6.4 and this is the version for plasma 6. I hope, debian will include this version into its repository, or is this to new? Of course I understand, debian software in stable is a little older, but I have a little hope, taht after the official release the libs will be upgraded soon. Just a hope, please do not misunderstand me! Let us see, what the future will bring. Best Hans
