I intend to orphan the oxygencursors package. The package description is: This package contains the Oxygen cursor theme, originally created for KDE 4. . The cursors are available in numerous colors to match the style of any desktop.
I would be willing to take over the maintenance of this package, as this is the cursor theme I have been using on Debian for as long as I can remember, despite not being a KDE user. I see there is no VCS set in the package metadata, did you use one and would you be OK with sharing it? Or did you work without a VCS? It’s OK if there is none, I can probably generate a pseudo-history of the source package by relying on debsnap.
PS: Sorry for the broken Reply-To, I messed up when setting the previous e-mail headers.
Hey, just a small update: vv221 found out, that the source of this package is meanwhile copied into src:oxygen. So the idea was born, that we may remove this package and replace it with binary packages built by src:oxygen. There is already an MR open to do that: https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/kde/oxygen/-/merge_requests/5 https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/extras/oxygencursors Regards, hefee

By making the binary package name "oxygencursors" free again, it would avoid using an alternative name for the package built from src:oxygen. That way the update from src:oxygencursors to src:oxygen should be painless during the Trixie → Forky upgrade, with no need for a dummy package or such other dependeny trick.
Hi,
as discussedn in this bug log it makes sense to remove the source package oxygencursors
and build the binary from source for oxygen.
Kind regards
Andreas.

All this is going to achieve is the loss of the Oxygen cursors themes from Debian. Are you planning to help with https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/kde/oxygen/-/merge_requests/5 ?

I might have misinterpreted the bug log. So using moreinfo tag which
will prevent removal until the tag is removed.
Thank you for the clarification. I guess the new title fits the current
plan better and the tag should help keeping the package.
No, sorry.
Sorry for the confusion
Andreas.
