Package: kmenuedit Version: 4:6.3.4-2 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: bwtnguy@yahoo.com Dear Maintainer, When editing an application, the new .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications doesn't include 'Hidden=false' and this keeps the app from running with the original in /usr/share/applications or with the edited entry. The item still appears in the menu, but clicking on it in application dashboard just closes the menu. No logged error that I've found. I spent a little time trying to understand, and couldn't find the exact problem, but I did find that there are some related issues. Local .desktop files do not override global .desktop files https://forums.opensuse.org/t/local-desktop-files-do-not-override-global-desktop-files/184379 Modifying the "Environment variables" section of an application is not retained https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=497714 It should be pretty easy to recreate, just right click an icon and select edit, or open kmenuedit. Edit any app, save, then try and run it from the menu. If error, find the .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications and append 'Hidden=false' to the end of it. Try and run app again. Thanks for the nice new trixie setup. It's really great. L8r, bw

Package: kmenuedit Version: 4:6.3.4-2 Followup-For: Bug #1110918 X-Debbugs-Cc: bwtnguy@yahoo.com I'm using the full screen app dashboard on X11. I'm having trouble starting wayland, probably because I moved my panel around. I'll create a new user and see if I can get in and try it there. xterm app, uses debian-xterm.desktop and any change anywhere in the kmenuedit dialog, even adding only a space in the command line arguments saves a faulty debian-xterm.desktop in ~/.local/share/applications. links2 browser, trying to add url as command line arg creates ~/.local/share/applications/links2.desktop it lacks the Hidden=false line so the apps won't run at all. Dear Maintainer, I'm pretty sure this is not a bug but just undefined behavior... I think what happens is when trying to run an app that is 'favorited' after the original has been edited, maybe that favorited link is not updated when the regular menu link is saved in kmenuedit. I'll do some more tweaking, it's fun. In the meantime, close the bug if you feel like it. ty I'm still confused about the way it works, but I got my menu sorted and wayland is really nice so far. Thanks again, tell them I said to Take a day off when you get a chance!! L8r, bw
