Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?
  - upgrading from bookworm to trixie.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
  - running gvim, moving to rightleft orientation, copying text from
the bible - in Hebrew, with vowels and diacritics - as shown in
    the attached images.
* What was the outcome of this action?
  - the glyphs are bad. some letters are pushed to right, and it's
    just not right.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
  - same display as in bookworm. indeed, when I downgraded only these
2 packages back to the bookworm version (dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/fonts-freefont-ttf_20120503-10_all.deb dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/fonts-freefont-otf_20120503-10_all.deb) everything settled fine again.
