Dear Maintainer,

    * What led up to the situation?

If you're referring to a message ID from within the Evolution or from the
command line, you can't search for it.

In other words:

UI search for mid:"foobar12345@example.com" is failing.

Furthermore, if you're using Evolution from 3rd party products and you're trying
to open a particular email via 'evolution "mid:foobar12345@example.com"' this
fails as well.

This bug was fixed upstream already: [1]

Since I consider searching for a Message ID as a very fundamental part of a mail
client, I would like to suggest to include the small upstream fix from [1] to
Debian 13 Trixie as well.

The commit that fixes the issue is [2]

Thank you!

Hi,

Since this bug breaks our workflows related to Evolution and
external mail references, I'd like to know if there is something
blocking that patch to be applied to the Debian version of Evolution
any time soon.

Thank you very much!
