Hi,
This is an advertisement, not a description.
The description needs to give the user enough information to decide if
that is likely the software they need (i.e. the list of printers is
important), but there is no need to convince users that this software is
better than any others.

Hi Simon, Good catch; I just pasted from the README without thinking about it too much. I've updated it to be more objective, how does this look? Short: Slicing Software for Precision 3D Prints Long: Orca Slicer is a community-driven fork of Bambu Studio and Prusa Slicer that generates precise and efficient GCode for 3D printers. * Wide Printer Compatibility: Supports a broad range of printers: Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality, Voron, and more. * Network Printer Support: Seamless integration with Klipper, PrusaLink, and OctoPrint for remote control. * Open-Source & Community Driven: Regular updates fueled by continuous community contributions. * Calibration Tools: Comprehensive suite with temperature towers, flow rate, retraction & more. * Granular Controls and Customization: Fine-tune print speed, layer height, pressure, and temperature. Thanks -- Ben Westover
Hi Ben,
A lot better.
I understand this is title case, but it feels as if "Precision" is a
brand name here, which will people think "oh it's not for me."
"3D printing slicer and GCode generator" perhaps? (so people who know
they need a "slicer" find it, and so do people who know they need GCode.
Still too many adjectives about quality, but highlighting that it's
community-supported is a plus.
"Supported printers:"
"Network Printer Support via Klipper, PrusaLink or OctoPrint"
Debian is open source -- also, from an user perspective, updates aren't
necessarily good, and when they install from a stable release, they will
not get these updates anyway.
Which, BTW, is one of the problems you will face as a maintainer: once
it's released, users will install this precise version for two years at
least. Commercial users prefer it this way, even, because it means you
can use the same training materials for two years. Can these users be
properly supported?
Still too many adjectives, and too detailed. "Calibration tools for
optimizing printing parameters."
Not even sure that bit is needed. The calibration tools are good to
mention, because even someone using a different slicer might see that
and try them, but this is just standard slicer settings.

Hi Simon, Here's what I have now. Hello Ben Westover. Do you still work on OrcaSlicer? What is the status of the package? -- Seyed Mohamad Amin Modaresi
Hello, I have been very busy for the last several months and have not been able to work much on this. There seems to be a sort of rat's nest of bundled and system dependencies that is hard to untangle. If you would like to take over my work on this package, let me know. Otherwise, I'll work on it when I get time, but that may not be for a little while. Regards -- Ben Westover
The main project is very heavy for me, but I can help to package its dependencies.
