How about enabling back the c-ares switch in order to have the --dns-servers options back?
As far as I understand, it was enabled back in 2008 only to be removed in 2013 due to
problems with IPv6: do you think the concerns addressed in bug #605558 have been overcome
now?

Hello Luigi,

Thank you for the request, we have enabled c-ares in the experimental build of
curl and will enable it in unstable once openssl 4 is uploaded there, this
should happen within the next few months.

Along with c-ares, the experimental build also enables HTTPSRR and ECH.
