After an update within trixie, with p-u enabled, I get an endless loop of:

W: Tried to start delayed item http://deb.debian.org/debian trixie-proposed-updates/main amd64 fonts-opensymbol all 4:102.12+LibO25.2.3-2+deb13u3, but failed

I have to manually ^C this.

As etckeeper has already committed at that point, I think it’s dpkg,
but may be apt as well, please reassign as suitable. Also Cc’ing SRM
and maintainer of the package.

We know this is an APT bug, so reassigning there.
Skipping the openoffice maintainers, because what could they do!?

apt, I guess. You are not the fist who noticed that, that has been happening since long, was even asked about on #-devel etc.

Which happens here and then on any random package. Neither is a source of it.

This is not a libreoffice problem and this is completely obvious. It just happens here on a libreoffice package.

Probably not, because one is archived and sid, this is trixie,
but zeha already reassigned.

This is not something that was clear to me, it could have been
that a package triggers this.

Yeah, this needs to be fixed in trixie as well then.

It does not, apparently, only happen after a failure to contact
a mirror; however I *did* ^C the package download, change a
sources.list.d/ file, then run apt-get update and restarted the
apt-get --purge dist-upgrade, and apt-listchanges was unable to
obtain the PHP changelog.

bye,

Good point. Didn't check.
 From #1111554:

Package: apt
Version: 2.6.1

Found in version apt/2.6.1

Affects oldstable. (And stable, too, but the BTS doesn't know it because it's not marked as found...)

Merging anyway. (Let alone for the severity.)
