Hi,

your package produces a udeb package (nbd-client-udeb) which creates an
empty directory in an aliased location:

/sbin

Shipping files/directories in aliased locations is no longer allowed and
will trigger the "aliased-location" error which will prevent testing
migration going forward.

It appears, when moving the files to /usr in the main package, the
installation rules of the udeb package were broken and the nbd-client
binary was no longer installed, leading to a broken udeb package.

The attached patch fixes that and also moves the files in the udeb
package to /usr to make them usrmove compliant.

Please consider to apply the attached change with your next upload.

Michael

Seeing that the udeb package has been broken for quite a long time, I
wonder whether it's actually still used?

If not, dropping it altogether might be another option.

As the latest upload didn't include the NMU changelog, the bug tracker
assumes the bug doesn't apply to the version in unstable.

Looking at the excuses page the issue is still present. Updating meta
data to reflect that.

Hi Wouter,

not sure if you get salsa notifications.

Please see
https://salsa.debian.org/wouter/nbd/-/commit/31191ff34c9f1499b2c70b0243cd448543f2e291#note_744671

Btw, I never actually made an NMU for 1:3.26.1-6.2 and the new upstream
release 3.27.1 now triggers autopkgtest regressions in dracut and nbd
and fails to build on i386

Hi Michael,

I do, but I've moved recently and I've been rather busy. I also haven't
been able to be very active for Debian since the most recent release,
which doesn't help.

I do get the emails, and I follow along on my phone, but I don't always
have the time to fix things immediately.

Yeah, I'm aware.

I'm working on an upload that fixes this (as well as the
accidentally-lost translatin NMU, #1131763), so hopefully should be
fixed soon.

Sorry about the mess.

Hi Wouter,

this fix hasn't reached testing yet due to an autopkgtest failure of
nbd, making nbd the only remaining package in testing/forky which still
ships paths in an aliased location.

Could you have a look at this?

I'm not really familiar with nbd, so I don't feel qualified to fix the
failures in unstable.
But I could offer to NMU to testing-proposed-updates with only a minimal
fix for the udeb.

Let me know what you prefer.

Michael

Hi Michael,

This is not how the Release Team wants to use tpu. nbd isn't stuck
behind something else, just behind itself. An option you could propose
is a revert to a previous version that worked.
