General use.  A few minutes after logging in, newly opened GTK applications (on XFCE4 on Debian 13.3) stop accepting keyboard input,
Kate, galculaor and xterm, for example continue to function normally,

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
sudo killall ibus-daemon restores input in GTK apps to normality.
sudo apt purge ibus prevents the issue from reoccurring after reboot/login

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
