Run evince without arguments from an xterm. The window shows up, but instead of the cross icon for window closing, we get an exclamation mark in a triangle, and the terminal gets cluttered; cf. the attachments.

If we run evince with the name of a viewable file (say, a PDF) as an argument, we get more placeholder triangles instead of icons and more mess in the terminal.

Probably related: http://bugs.debian.org/1127935 (but the original poster says that his evince fails to start, which is not the case for us), https://bugs.debian.org/1127710 (but the original poster says that his thunderbird fails to start, which is not the case for us), and https://bugs.debian.org/1127969 (but the original poster says that his evince crashes, which is not the case for us).

Hope this helps
Alma
