Dear Maintainer,

I tried to play an MP3 audio file with Firefox. There was no sound, so I
downloaded the file and tried with mpg123 and vlc, still with no sound. I
checked the systemsettings and saw that there were no longer any sound-output
devices. I also found an mpg123 core file. The related lines from syslog are
below.

2026-02-26T15:24:17.177677+01:00 remerge kernel: mpg123[1472058]: segfault at 7f3cd4be53a0 ip 00007f3cd4be53a0 sp 00007ffd983f41b8 error 14 likely on CPU 4 (core 0, socket 0)

The output suggests that the problem could be in jack rather than mpg123. I
will send a tarball with the MP3 file, the syslog, the core file and the CLI
output.

Thanks for your hard work on Debian,
Alison Chaiken

After a reboot, the problem does not repeat with the same file.

Thanks,
Alison
