Hi,

do you have statistics how many people use merge (and succeed in the
first try) and how many people use forcemerge immediately? In my
experience merge almost never works because some of the bug parameters
never match, so everybody diretly uses forcemerge.

maybe it is about time to move the merge functionality to soemthing like
carefulmerge or mergeidentical and make merge synonymous to
forcemerge, so that people don't learn to always use the force.

No statistics, but from personal experience I never use merge anymore.
Since forcemerge won't reassign bugs, it protects you against typos, so
probably worth simplifying the interface.
