Hi,

in the system upgrade wesnoth failed to upgrade.

The error I get (/var/log/apt/term.log) is:

Setting up wesnoth-1.18 (1:1.18.6-2) ...
update-alternatives: error: alternative link /usr/share/man/it/man6/wesnoth.6.gz is already managed by wesnoth.it.6.gz (slave of wesnoth)
dpkg: error processing package wesnoth-1.18 (--configure):
 old wesnoth-1.18 package postinst maintainer script subprocess failed with exit status 2
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of wesnoth:
 wesnoth depends on wesnoth-1.18 (>= 1:1.18.6-2); however:
  Package wesnoth-1.18 is not configured yet.

Ciao
Davide

Hi Davide,

I cannot reproduce this in a clean chroot/container, either upgrading
from 1:1.18.6-1 -> 1:1.18.6-2, or from 1:1.18.5-1 (current
stable/trixie) -> 1:1.18.6-2. There aren't any piuparts failures for
this package either.

Are you trying to do something unsupported like upgrading across
multiple stable releases all at once? Can you share your last entries
in e.g. /var/log/apt/history.log ?

Regards,
Vincent

I don't know where this file come from.

no, I added the stable security repository.
If a package is not upgraded in testing and there is a security
patch than I get that from that repo.

I unfortunately still can't reproduce what you're seeing. Even
spinning up a vm starting with bookworm, installing wesnoth (1.16),
upgrading to trixie (which pulls in wesnoth 1.18), and then
subsequently upgrading to testing, results in a working system with no
dpkg/apt errors. Without clear repro steps I don't think there's
anything I can do to help you.

Vincent

so, you are you mixing stable with testing?
