Upgrading pipewire to 1.6.x brought in a whopping 50MB+ of additional
dependencies and that was related to enabling onnxruntime support.
AFAIUI it's for some AI/ML stuff for which I have no need. I'm fine with
it being available for people who want it, but I would welcome it if
users were given the choice to have it not.

Cheers,

Hi,

Ouch that is annoying!
I think I'll move it to another package instead. I'm thinking about
doing like in Ubuntu and moving some modules into the new
libpipewire-0.3-modules-extra and libspa-0.2-modules-extra. I imagine
that will make maintenance in Ubuntu easier.

Best regards,
Dylan

Hi,

While I do think AI is annoying, what I want to achieve with this bug is
that I want the actual dependencies for pipewire to be as minimal as
possible. If I can output sound via the Line Out port, that is enough.

While I'm also interested in bluetooth f.e., I don't think that should
be a dependency for pipewire, which it (currently) is not :-)
IIUC pipewire can already do a lot and I suspect it can do even more in
the future, but if it can be made optional, please do.

Cheers,
  Diederik

Total cost of libpipewire-0.3-0t64: 90 MB. What libpipewire does for
all media applications: "Sorry, there is no running pipewire server,
so I can't help you".
