Dear Debian Developers,
I am writing to report a reproducible login issue I have experienced with Debian 13.2.0 amd64.
After a fresh installation of Debian 13.2.0 amd64, I am unable to log in with the password I set during the installation process. The system returns 'Login incorrect' despite the password being entered correctly.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download the official Debian 13.2.0 amd64 DVD image from the official Debian website (https://www.debian.org <https://www.debian.org>)
2. Perform a clean installation
3. Set a user password during installation (6-character alphabetic password)
4. After installation completes, attempt to log in with the chosen password
5. Login fails with 'Login incorrect'
Additional information:
- I have reproduced this issue 3 times on the same machine with a clean install each time,
- Caps Lock is confirmed to be OFF during all login attempts
- The machine previously ran Debian12.11 without any issues
- Architecture: amd64
- enviroment Cinnamon
- Installation media: Official DVD image downloaded from debian.org
The system rejects the correct password.
Thank you for your time and for maintaining Debian.
Best regards
Erik Palinay
